Krystalvision announces the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine learning based object recognition algorithms for baggage screening applications.
As part of development of next generation solutions, baggage scanning and screening equipment is now being enhanced with advanced algorithms to identify threat items and dangerous goods. These algorithms are trained via deep learning and machine learning techniques to offer powerful and accurate detection of objects.
The first set of algorithms are designed to automatically identify and flag threats of dangerous, prohibited and contraband goods such as guns and/or sharp objects like knifes, blades etc.
With high accuracy of detection, the baggage scanning Artificial Intelligence threat detection algorithms will drive down false alarm rates, assist the operator identify threats and in doing so, reduce the burden of image interpretation on the operator. The AI algorithms also add a secondary check layer increasing efficiency and detection accuracy, and provides invaluable support for operators.
The new AI algorithms are offered as an option on new systems and as an upgrade on older systems. Potential threats are framed and shown on the main system screen in real time. There is no need for additional hardware such as extra monitor, computer or a server. The AI software is developed as an integral part of the xray system to keep hardware complexity to a minimum. This will keep the maintenance cost down for our customers.
Over the next few months, more and more AI and deep learning algorithms will be added to this suite to identify “items of interest’ such as lithium batteries etc.
